About Elizabeth

I have been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2006—my massage therapy training was done through Victoria BC’s West Coast College of Massage Therapy and my post graduate courses include:
Pregnancy Massage Therapy Certification
Labour, Birth, & Postpartum Massage Therapy Certification
Infant Massage Teacher Certification
Hot/Cold Stone Therapy CertificationFrom an early age I have had an interest in helping others; massage therapy has given me the opportunity to do so. I grew up in Victoria, where I learned through friends and family that I have a “healing touch”.
My interest in working with women throughout and after their pregnancies first started in massage school. I think it actually stemmed from the fact that I was originally afraid to work on a pregnant woman because I thought I might “break her” or do something to her that would cause her to miscarry. I have since discovered that pregnant women are MUCH more resilient than society seems to think they are and that massage therapy is one of the MOST beneficial things a woman can do in her childbearing year.
I’m continually amazed at a woman’s ability to cope with and adapt to the many physical and emotional changes that occur throughout and after pregnancy. Every woman’s pregnancy is so unique and I find it fascinating to see how massage can have an affect. I’ve had the opportunity of working with many different pregnant and postpartum women and I greatly appreciate being a part of their maternity process.
I grew up in a very nurturing family and I believe that I developed my sense for healing through touch in part because of how I was raised. I believe that nurturing touch is a very powerful tool for growth and development of a child as well as for family bonding and it is something I hope to teach many new parents. I became a Certified Infant Massage Teacher because I wanted the opportunity to show parents how to provide nurturing touch for their children in the form of infant massage.
I look forward to continuing my work with women throughout their childbearing years and I hope that I get to meet and work with each new little person that they bring into this world.
